Wings of Dreams

Dreams arrive to me in countless forms, ranging from the whimsically absurd—such as navigating a desert atop a dog while serenading towering cobras with a flute—to the oddly mundane, like placing my socks in the dishwasher and dissecting the ordinary facets of daily existence.

As my world revolves around art, my nights are punctuated by these recurring images that I spend long days in the studio laboring over. Throughout the years, dreams have been the wellspring of inspiration for my artwork evolution and stories. They've provided the puzzle pieces to evolve my work over the years and in this case, to funnel each turning point into one single piece of art.

This narrative recounts my artistic journey. Picture me standing on the western coast of North America, casting a wistful glance back at my homeland in Australia. In this foreign land, a vision unfurls in the skies, and the Pear Series takes root. The challenges of establishing myself as an artist in a foreign land seemed insurmountable until the Pear Series came to my rescue. They became my lifeline. An angel in disguise, apPearing in a dream that would become reality, marked the day I embraced my true self—a surrealist. As the Pear Series evolved, so did my visions.

As the Pear Series transformed, a man in a suit emerged in my dreams, drawing inspiration from countless artists spanning decades. This man became the vessel for my own story and those of countless others. He observed his surroundings and the final days of the Pear era. Fallen Pears began to give rise to the lotus flower, their delicate petals extending from the broken stem. This transformation unfolded across numerous artworks until the man and the lotus flower merged, giving birth to what I call the Peregrine Man—a relentless seeker of light, oxygen, and growth, starting anew in a foreign pond.

The opportunity to paint this piece from this perspective is nothing short of an honor. Having come this far, finding my place on the western shores of a new art world, is a dream come true. It's not a dream woven in the night or a random jumble of images; it's my vision—one that keeps growing. Hopefully, one day, this artwork will play a modest but meaningful part in the epic story of growth and insight.
